Global Call to Action: Addressing Women's Health Amidst Multiple Crises

In a world increasingly beset by conflicts, climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ongoing HIV epidemic, the global community must unite to support women's rights and gender equality in health. These intersecting crises disproportionately affect women and girls, exacerbating health disparities and deepening gender inequalities. The urgent need for collective action to prioritize gender equality in health has never been more critical.

A recently published comment in The Lancet, authored by the High-Level Advisory Committee (HLAC) of the Gender and Health Hub, comprising experts and leaders from UN and global health organizations, along with senior independent and civil society experts, underscores the severe impact of these crises on women and girls. The comment calls for a multifaceted approach to address these challenges, emphasizing the importance of funding and support for grassroots and feminist organizations, aligning policies across institutions, and financial responses that prioritize equity, gender equality and women's rights.
